My first week at Gallaudet went by quickly! It was good; it was very different than the high school life I experienced before. Even though I graduated from Model Secondary School for the Deaf, which is right by Gallaudet, it is not the same.
At Gallaudet, it is more independent! I feel like I can do whatever I want to. There is no staff here to tell you what to do unlike high school! The classes here are challenging, I am not exactly used to the schedule. At high school, it starts at 8 and finishes at 3; it is not like that in college. I love my schedule already! I have classes at 9 and 930 and most of them finishes before noon therefore I am done for the day.
The big plus about Gallaudet is that there is a soccer team for women. My high school did not have a soccer team at all. Soccer is a big passion of mine; I was thrilled when I heard the news that I made on the team. Hanging out with friends is the big hit at Gallaudet, everybody tend to talk to everybody. It is tough to finish your homework especially when you are juggling things around. I am going through that stage now, I am juggling with school, soccer and of course, being with friends!
College life is nothing like the ones we had during our high school years. My first week was good; I wonder what I will be like in couple of weeks. I cannot wait to see all the things that Gallaudet has to offer me.
